Scent...An Influential Sense

Every woman/man has a favorite scent they are drawn to or enjoy smelling. Some likes the fragrance of flowers while other enjoys a stronger musk type scent. I have always been partial to the soft fruit type smells. As I think back on my youth, I realize I have only had two favorite scents.(one being added only recently) I have always love the smell of coco butter. I actually grew up using coco butter to moisturize my hair and body. Companies have tried to introduce me to other smells, but that coconut fruit smell was the only scent I adored. Everything I purchased, from my shampoo to my soaps and lotions, had coconut oil or coconut butter infused in them.
Later in life, I began searching for natural products that contained my favorite scent (coconuts). There are many natural products that contains coconut essential oils, but one product caught my attention. +Bloomfield Bath's Premium Body Butter. Their Premium Body Butter contains 40% unrefined, organic Shea Butter. In addition to the She Butter, Bloomfield Bath's Premium Body Butter contains: Virgin Coconut Oil, Coco Butter, Vitamin E and a host of other great ingredients that will benefit your skin. Once this body butter is rubbed onto your skin, it feels like your skin is getting the moisture needed to stay strong healthy and refresh. I finally found a product that is great for my skin and has my favorite scent. The bonus to all this, which had me smiling from ear to ear, is this body butter is 100% natural.  A win, win for me. While searching on Bloomfield Bath's website, I realized they have so many natural products to offer and there are additional scents available to add to the butters I love.

Best of all, there was a coconut scent available. It's call Coconut Cream. I was in heaven. I had my butter with Coconut Cream scent. I later found out I could get that same scent added to the soaps and polishes. So, now I can clean, exfoliate, and moisturize with the same aroma. To top it all off, the Cleanser and Conditioners has the coconut oil in their ingredients as well. Bloomfield Bath offered me a complete line of natural products to use that all contained my favorite scent. I was excited!
A year has passed and I am online ordering my products like normal, when I must have accidentally ordered my soap bar in a different scent. (Honey Almond) I didn't realized my mistake until I received my soap bars. The first thing I did was smell the soap to find out if I would be okay with this scent. I put the bars to my nose and took a deep whiff... Instantly, I felt as if I was in another place. That moment I determined, I was going to keeps those bars of soap. After a few days of using the Signature Soap Bars with the Honey Almond scent, I had added a new scent to my favorites list. Now, two years later, I use my Premium Body Butter, Polish and Signature Soap Bars all with the Honey Almond scent. I still love the coconut smells, especially the Coconut Cream scent, but Honey Almond has won me over. It is said that, "Nothing is more memorable than smell" and I can say my first sniff of Honey Almond has me now in its clasps and I am forever captivated with this scent. What is your favorite scent? What feelings do you sense when that fragrance embraces your nose? Always remember "[Your] sense of smell can be extraordinary evocative,", and for me every time I smell Honey Almond from Bloomfield Bath, I am taken to a place of bliss.

Instead of ordering single bars, I order a loaf of soap. That's 10 bars of soap.

Let the SUN shine on your skin.

Your body needs vitamin D and the sun is a great natural way to get that vitamin D. Sun therapy was used in ancient Greek times. The sun was thought of as a natural healing property for the body. Today, we seem to bath in sunblock not realizing we are putting ourselves at risk for Vitamin D deficiency among other health risk. Many people believe that to much sun can be dangerous, but the sun is needed and provides a key vitamin for our bones. In America, 24% of our citizens have Vitamin D Deficiency. It is commonly thought that by using sunblock, we are preventing cancer and anti-aging effects, but knowing the right balance of sun exposure, however, can have healing benefits for you too.  Not only is sunlight a key component in bone health, but it can also boost your immune system, strengthen your teeth, and oddly enough it can help prevent depression. Have you ever notice when you go out into the sun, you automatically smile. The sun light is the, "illumination of nature".

The UV light from the sun can not be seen by the naked eye. This makes it hard to justify how much sun you are getting and when to say, "enough is enough". In addition to that, there are 3 different types of UV light, ultraviolet A, ultraviolet B, and ultraviolet C. UVB (ultraviolet B) are the rays that help your body with the production of vitamin D. Just remember you only need 15 minutes of sun on your unprotected skin a day to get the proper amount of vitamin D. Once you get that 15 minutes, put on some protection, either with clothes or a natural moisturizer like shea butter for example. The best time for your skin to get the UVB rays need is when the sun is 50° from the horizon. Who knows when the sun is 50° from the horizon? I don't, but you can find this out using Google Earth. Or you could use the UV Index. The UV Index gives values to the UVA and UVB rays ranging from 0 to 17.

Sun Exposure Chart For Different Skin ypes and UV Index

Use the shadow rule when exposing your skin to the sun. If your shadow is taller than you, then the UV levels are going to be low. If your shadow is shorter than you, then the UV levels are high.

Now that you know how much sun your skin should be exposed to, here are some ways to protect your skin from to much exposure. One way is by covering unprotected areas of the skin with clothes or getting into the shade of a tree or an umbrella. Another natural way of protection, is using a natural moisturizer like shea butter. The use of Shea Butter has great healing and prevention properties. The best bonus of using shea butter, is it can help with prevention and it can heal sun burnt skin. +Bloomfield Bath uses shea butter in all of it's products and it can be purchased in it's rawest form. Shea butter is extremely rich in Vitamins A,D,E,F, and K and is great for soothing skin irritations, like sunburns, making it a remarkable moisturizer. Bloomfield Bath offers two types of Shea Butter. We have the Shea Butter from the Karite Tree and Shea Nilotica, from a sub-species of the Karite Tree.  Shea Nilotica is produced in Uganda and Sudan. It is softer, has a high absorption rate, and has a softer smell than the Shea Butter of Ghana. Learn how much sun your body can handle and let us appreciate the sun and all of the amazing benefits it gives us.
