Anytime a product has water, preservatives are needed. Preservatives prevent the growth of bacteria, yeast, and fungi. Thus extending the shelf life of any product. +Bloomfield Bath chooses to use only natural preservatives in their products. One of the natural products we use is Honey. Honey is a natural preserve that has been use since ancient times. The Egyptians used honey in many of their medical procedures. Bloomfield Bath uses honey in their 3 different Conditioners, Facial Masks and two of the Signature Scents (Oh My Oats & Honey and Honey Almond). Honey is considered a preservative because the moisture content is low. Many scientist believes that honey creates a sticky barrier against bacteria and other infections.Other natural preservatives we use are Leucidal Liquids, Natapres, Neodefend, and Potassium Sorbate.
We use Leudical and Natapress in our body butters. Leucidal is a plant base natural preservative. It prevents the growth of other microorganisms by acidifying its environment. Natapres is a natural compound made from multiple plant extracts, like radish root ferment filtrate and the honeysuckle flower extract. It is a great protector against gram negative & gram positive bacteria.
We use Potassium Sorbate and Neodefends in our lotions and creams. Potassuim Sorbate is a salt of sorbic acid natural found in some fruits. It is great defense against mold but can resist some bacteria and yeast. Potassuim Sorbate has been used for decades to preserve many products, including food. Neodefend is an emulsifying that help keeps our butters and oils from separating in water. It a gluten-free food starch, naturally occurring in corn. It is gentle on the skin and can be used on sensitive skin, giving the ability to hydrate and condition your skin. Bloomfield Bath stands by its mission to use all natural ingredients so that your skin will be exuberant and beautiful. Every element we use will be natural and chemical free.
